On John Bolton’s new book: "The room where it happened”
By Maryam Turab
So much fuss, so much commotion is being created by the media on John Bolton’s new book "The room where it happened.”
John Bolton ex National Security Advisor, Ambassador to the United Nations and has held various high positions. Republican by political believes John Bolton has already made millions by the book deal and of course will be making more by selling the book here in USA and around.
Media is giving him so much time on all major networks and I don’t understand why? of course in their attempt to discredit President Trump in any way they can and any help from any source , but I have serious thoughts about the time of release of this book and his assertions about the President .
According to Mr. Bolton everything president did while JB was in the office were of great concerns to him and yet he tend to stayed in the office and at the time of impeachment proceedings of the president by democrats did nothing and didn’t disclose any miss doings that might have changed the outcome.
So it’s clear he wanted to tell it all in the book and make money, very cleverly turning the tables on the other side and blaming democrats ,I have watched quite a few of his interviews with major networks even they have to chew their words.
Stephen Colbert during his interview called Mr. Bolton naive and he reacted by saying "' you are insulting me by calling me naïve. But I think Mr. Bolton thinks American Public is naive and will buy his book and believe in it..I don’t think so; we are more intelligent than that, even the South Korea has discredited his story.
If we believe that John Bolton’s account of the happening’s in that room are correct for a second the timings, ethics and morals are not, his claim “its in the ‘interest of American Public to know and draw the conclusions .
Samantha Vinograd, a CNN national security analyst, was right when she wrote:
“If Bolton were actually being honest, he would have given the book its right title: "The Room where it happened -- and where I stood by." As excerpts from the have book dripped out over the last few days and Bolton began his media spree to hype up the book, he left out one key theme: His own complicity.
“And in writing this Bolton book report, the synopsis is sadly unsurprising to anyone who's been awake these last four years: President Trump is a live threat to our national security. Bolton's revelations only add more color to what we already know about Trump cozying up to despots and intervening in our justice system to help his friends out.”
People should refrain from buying the book or the proceedings from the book should be awarded to some charity to help Americans at the time they need the most help, with Covid 19 and its impact on the livelihood of millions. If Mr. Bolton’s claim by publishing the book is not for monetary gains but to educate the Americans about President Trump’s miss handling of many situations.
With elections around the corner, will be release of the book have any serious impact on the results? Will John Bolton be able to sway the opinion of the public in any way when Democrats are also not endorsing the book 100% and the timings of his release.
On June 20, Judge Royce Lamberth of the DC District Court denied Trump administration's attempt to block release of Bolton's book. In the decision, Lamberth slammed Bolton for moving the publication forward before he formally got the administration's approval. Tellingly, by the time the Justice Department sued, Bolton's publisher Simon & Schuster had already distributed 200,000 copies of the book in the US and thousands more have been distributed in the UK, Canada, Australia and India, Bolton told the court.
It will not be too much to say that the year 2020 is a year that will be remembered by many significant life changing global happenings; Covid-19, major shifts in addressing and awareness in economic, social and civil disparities throughout the world. How the USA elections in 2020 will take its shape is yet to be seen?
All the movements, talks and reforms will be forgotten in 2021. Will it be like talking about another chapter of history of the past like many we discuss Russian flue, great recession today, will the normalcy of life put the dust on our memories or the impact of 2020 will leave a mark that will be embedded and engrained in the societies for future, for better tomorrow, a less hostile world for all and peace.
As US author, Idowu Koyenikan says: “When you do the things in the present that you can see, you are shaping the future that you are yet to see.”
